As part of the Pediatric Surgery Clinic, we qualify for procedures performed as part of the 1st Day Surgery Clinic, in which operated children leave the hospital a few hours after the surgery.

Phimosis is a congenital or acquired narrowing of the foreskin opening that makes it difficult or impossible to pull it back. Less advanced cases of phimosis can be treated conservatively. Surgical treatment of phimosis is used in boys after they reach the age of two.

Procedures performed during the treatment of phimosis, depending on medical qualifications, can be divided into two categories: plastic surgery of the foreskin or circumcision. The most common procedure is to perform a plastic surgery to widen the foreskin using special incisions. It is a less invasive method, but it does not guarantee that the problem will not recur (postoperative scars may coincide and the foreskin may narrow again). Less commonly, phimosis is qualified for complete or partial removal of the foreskin by circumcision. They are performed in cases of very large scarring of the foreskin or at the request of the patient’s parents. However, this method guarantees a complete solution to the problem.

The basis for qualifying a patient for phimosis or circumcision surgery is a detailed medical history and assessment of the area undergoing the procedure. Based on the information obtained, the doctor presents the patient with a treatment plan, in which, among other things, he discusses the type and scope of the interference made and informs about post-treatment recommendations.

After surgery on the penis, you need a dressing that allows you to pass urine, and there is also some swelling for some time. Rehabilitation takes about two weeks.

Phimosis surgery is a minimally invasive and relatively simple procedure. The patient may leave the hospital on the same day after the procedure. Wounds heal in about 2-4 weeks. Control at the operator’s premises is required according to post-treatment recommendations. In case of complications, contact the attending physician.
